For State Representative, House District 7 • DEMOCRAT

Campaign Update

WE DID IT!!!

With 100% of the precincts reporting in, I am proud to announce that Angela Williams received 57% of the votes cast, making her the Democratic Nominee to represent District 7 in the Colorado House of Representatives.

We were only able to achieve this victory because of the help and support of so many of you. Last night Angela thanked the steering committee, the volunteers, the walkers, the callers, the contributors, the elected officials, and the organizations that endorsed her, along with her close friends and family.

"Two years ago, we began a campaign by listening to our neighbors and learning about the concerns of the district. We went door to door and listened. We sat in living rooms and listened. We stood on front porches and listened. We met in church parking lots and listened... I use the word we because as I’ve said from the beginning, this campaign is larger than just me. This campaign has always been about moving our district forward together," Williams stated in her acceptance speech last night.

Angela also commended the other candidates that entered the race. "Running for elected office requires a personal sacrifice and a lot of hard. The other candidates should be applauded for stepping up to that task."

The campaign team would like to thank everyone that participated in the Precinct Caucuses, the County Assembly, and voted in the Democratic Primary. The Democratic Primary voter break down for the House District 7 race is as follows:

Angela Williams -  5,149 votes - 57%

Jon Goldin-DuBois - 2,199 votes - 24%

Mark Merringer - 1,679 votes - 19%

Total - 9,027 votes

While we celebrate this win, please remember that the journey is not over yet. The next step on the road to the Capitol includes the General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. As Democrats the time has come to unite together. Our core principles are one and the same. If we are to win against the Republican opposition, we must focus on moving District 7 forward together. There is still work to be done.

Again our candidate and the campaign team would like to thank everyone that helped make this victory possible. Whether your contribution was financial, or making phone calls... walking with Angela, or putting a sign in your yard, this win belongs to you.

Governor Bill Ritter and Governor Roy Romer give their support to Angela

This week Governor Bill Ritter and former Governor Roy Romer announced their endorsement of Angela Williams in the primary election for House District 7.

"I am honored to endorse Angela Williams for House District 7 because I believe she has the life experiences and the policy know how to help move Colorado forward. Angela came to Colorado a single mother with a young son. She found herself unemployed after the technology bubble burst but she picked herself up and started her own small business from scratch. She understands the struggles families face making a living, raising kids, and building a future. She knows how to make a payroll, find affordable insurance for her employees and most importantly how to succeed -- in life and in business. I am proud to offer her my support." - Governor Bill Ritter, Jr.

“I decided to endorse Angela Williams because I was impressed by her knowledge about public education coupled with her tenacity. I have spent many years now working on improving our public schools and so has Angela. If our economy is to see real long term growth we must be sure our kids are getting a great education and all of the support they need. I look forward to Denver being represented by Angela Williams and I hope you will join with me in voting for her.” - Former Governor Roy Romer

In addition to the Governors' support, Angela also received the endorsements of the Colorado Dental Association (CDA) and the Colorado Advocates for Rural Electrification.

They have become the 20th and 21st organizations to support Angela Williams. She has earned the endorsement of so many organizations because she knows the issues that our state is facing and more importantly, she is the only candidate with a plan to solve them.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As a candidate for Colorado State Representative in legislative District 7, I am pleased to welcome you to www.angela4colo.com.

Here, you will find information on my background, what I represent and how we intend to make a better District 7.

Our great, diverse and historic district consists of beautiful communities, including: Green Valley Ranch; Hilltop; Mayfair; Montbello; Montclair; Park Hill; and Stapleton. As a single mother, business owner, and community activist, I am not approaching you as a candidate for elected office or a new voice in politics: I come to you as a proud resident of Stapleton and a concerned Colorado citizen. We are witnessing a very challenging and trying period in our lives – but these times also present grand opportunities for new ideas and innovative solutions.

That is why I am making the necessary sacrifices to serve the people of District 7 and the people in this great state of Colorado.  Not only am I running to fulfill a sincere desire for public service, but I do believe in our united capacity for real change.

Although I’m not a career politician, I have struggled to make our community better, our neighborhoods safer, our schools smarter and our district stronger.  All change happens locally.  As YOUR public servant representing YOUR voice in the Colorado Assembly, I believe we can create the change we want and the change we need.

If you have any questions, concerns or new ideas for a better community, please don’t hesitate to contact me at http://denverdemocrats.net/content/caucus-center-0 or call 720.283.3380.  Or connect with me through Facebook and Twitter to learn more about the Angela Williams for State House campaign.
